About StopwatchHQ
StopwatchHQ is a small, independent project building the online timing tools we always wanted: fast to load, private by design, and free for everyone.
Why we built it
Most online timer sites are slow, cluttered with ads, and look like they were designed two decades ago. We kept asking for the same things — a stopwatch that stays accurate when you switch tabs, a countdown visible from across a classroom, a pomodoro cycle that just runs itself — and decided to build them properly.
How it's built
- No accounts, no tracking of your data. Every timer runs 100% in your browser. Nothing about your timing sessions is sent anywhere.
- Fast on any connection. The whole site is a handful of static files — no frameworks, no web fonts — so pages load in well under a second.
- Drift-free accuracy. Timing is computed from your device's system clock, not by counting animation ticks, so background tabs and throttling can't distort it.
- Original design and code. Everything here was designed and written from scratch — no cloned assets or content from other sites.
How it's funded
A few unobtrusive ads, kept out of the tool interface. That's it. No premium tiers, no accounts, no selling of data.
The tools
- Online stopwatch — fullscreen, laps, keyboard shortcuts
- Countdown timer — presets and shareable links
- Pomodoro timer — the classic 25/5 focus cycle
- Interval & tabata timer — work/rest plans for workouts
- Time tracker — clock in/out log with CSV export, stored only in your browser
What's next
On the roadmap: sound alerts (v2's most-requested feature), more interval presets and additional timer tools. Feedback is welcome via the contact page.
